Julianne Huff has been candid about the “darkest time” of her life.
In a recent video interview with influencer and entrepreneur Dal Mann, 37-year-old Huff, dedicated to sharing inspiration and uplift, she explained that she was hugely successful early in her career, ironically setting the stage for later struggles.
She said she worked as a dancer in season 4 of Dance with the Stars in 2007 after “hustling” in Los Angeles for about six months.
“I did the show and won the first two seasons in a row,” recalls Huff. “It was like a ripple effect. The stars were all there.”
“In the end I signed a country music record deal and had No. 1 album and the best new female vocalist, the best new artist,” she continued. “Then I started filming with Tom Cruise, which got me excited.”

But Huff said things ultimately led to a major shift.
“It was all going, it was going, it went, it went, it all fell apart,” she told Mann.
“My dog was killed by a coyote,” she explained, referring to her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Lexi and Harley, who passed away in 2019, adding that she has “begun to unravel” her marriage as well.
Huff married former professional hockey player Brooks Reich in July 2017. They announced their separation in May 2020 and filed for divorce in November of the same year. The divorce was finalized in 2022.

“My career, my group of friends, everything I knew really started to take a different form. It was probably the darkest time,” she recalled.
The Footloose star said she had finally begun the process of moving forward, but that wasn’t easy.
“It was a process, it was timing,” she explained. “We cannot hurry to heal. We cannot hurry to the time slots needed to learn a lesson.”

“But I’ll say I put my energy into self-care,” she added. “I brought my energy to me with joy, it was friendship and I really invested in others. When I think about feeling isolated or alone or serving someone else, it gives you a lot of joy and momentum, and literally changes the frequency and vibrations of your whole body.
Huff goes on to say she has discovered that choosing to surround herself with “good people” and positivity is also a big part of her journey.
“You know, we live in this world, which is very fast, and we’re so full of information. Please either surround good people or read content that inspires you and brings joy instead of comparison,” Huff said.
“When you see a lot of other people’s things, we feel we have to be like them, but your uniqueness is so beautiful and you’re one of them,” she added.
