Julia Roberts likes changing things up.
The 58-year-old actress appears on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter’s beauty issue alongside her hairstylist of 33 years, Serge Normand. In an interview published on Wednesday, Nov. 19, Julia joked about their relationship, including her desire to make major changes to her hair.
“Sometimes I’ll suggest something and he just looks at me. Softly. He says ‘no’ with his eyes,” the Pretty Woman actress told the outlet. “I often feel like cutting off all my hair!”
Despite his whims, Julia says she usually lets Normant do whatever he wants. “Sometimes I don’t talk about looks because I trust Serge completely,” she said.

The two also revealed their strong bond.
“Serge is very talented and can do anything hair-related, so luckily I don’t have to go anywhere else to get anything done,” Julia said. “At this point, we are more family than colleagues.”
Commenting on meeting Julia on a Herb Ritts shoot in 1993, Normant added: “Our connection was instantaneous, and over the years it has deepened into the most wonderful friendship. There was a great deal of trust between us, which made creating easy and fun.”
Julia’s beauty team pulled back the curtain on her fiery red hair, one of Julia’s most attention-grabbing looks in recent times, at the Venice Film Festival premiere of After the Hunt in August 2025.
“It’s been a while since the world saw her, so we definitely intensified her color on that carpet,” said hair colorist Kadi Lee, who mixed a dark auburn with a spiky bright copper “to give it some movement.”
The colorist continued, “Her hair was flowing and she looked so elegant with her red hair and navy dress. She knocked it out of the park.”

Her makeup artist, Genevieve Herr, “gave her a little more glamor (than usual). Her eyes were defined and the lip color was perfect with the color of the gown. And I added some blush to her.”

In September, Julia and her niece Emma Roberts posed together on the red carpet at the Veuve Clicquot x Simon Porte Jacquemus party in New York City, showing off their matching hair colors. Their relatives wore the same shade of red, with Julia’s hair styled in loose waves and Emma’s in a low, messy ponytail.
The Scream Queens star, who is the daughter of Julia’s older brother Eric Roberts, teamed up with her aunt in a chic black look at a New York Fashion Week event, marking their first red carpet appearance together in 13 years.
In February, the American Horror Story alum debuted her “sunrise red” hair styled in beachy waves on Instagram with a dramatic side part. The actress had blonde hair before turning red and specifically changed her hairstyle in December 2020.
