Apple is close to greenlighting a limited series starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cecily Strong, Variety exclusively reports.
This limited-edition play was inspired by the New York Magazine article “Nanny Squatters” by Bindu Vanshinath. Mary Bronstein is set to write, direct, and serve as showrunner.
The logline says the show “centers on a couple whose lives are forever changed when they bring a seemingly ideal caregiver into their home, only to find that lines are blurred and control is lost as the arrangement spirals into a tense and unsettling power struggle.”
Louis-Dreyfus and Strong will serve as executive producers on the show, with Bronstein serving as executive producer alongside New York Magazine’s Scoop Wasserstein. Produced by Apple Studios.
Louis-Dreyfus is one of the greatest and most famous comedic actresses of all time. She has been nominated for 26 Emmy Awards and won 11 times. Her awards include for her work on the seminal sitcom “Seinfeld.” One is “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” which ran for five seasons on CBS. She won Best Actress in a Comedy for the sixth consecutive year for her role in HBO’s political comedy “Veep,” and Louis-Dreyfus also won three awards for Outstanding Comedy Series for the show.
