It wasn’t always all that attractive.
Josh Duhamel says being with “big star” Fergie and living in her “shadow” at the height of his career made a huge difference in his life.
“Honestly, it was a big adjustment for me,” the actor explained on “The Megyn Kelly Show” on Monday.
Host Megyn Kelly then asked if Duhamel and the “Glamorous” singer ever had an issue about “who was the bigger star” at the time.
“Yeah, probably,” Duhamel admitted. “It’s probably my own ego more than anything. It probably didn’t bother her as much as it did me. But she was a huge star at the time!”
The “Transformers” star confessed that he felt like he was “in[Fergie’s]shadow a lot of the time.”
Duhamel and the pop star, whose real name is Stacey Ann Ferguson, married in 2009 and welcomed their son, Axl, in 2013. The former couple declared their divorce in 2017 and officially divorced in 2019.
The same year that Fergie and Duhamel married, the members of the Black Eyed Peas reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts with “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.”
Fergie has won eight Grammy Awards throughout her career, three of which came during her marriage to Duhamel.
The Ransom Canyon star recently said he has a “great relationship” with Fergie, 50, and said the hitmaker is “just a normal person at the end of the day.”
“We are raising our son Axel. She is a wonderful mother,” he exclaimed. “I’m now very happily married to my wife Audra (Mari). We have a beautiful son (Shepherd, 2) and a little girl on the way.[Audra and Fergie]have a great relationship and that’s what I really value.”
Duhamel, 53, who married Mari, 32, in 2022, said his goal was to “help everyone stay calm.”
“I just want peace. I don’t want any infighting between anyone,” he said. Thankfully they were very courteous in how they approached this issue. …It could be ugly, but thankfully it’s not. ”
Earlier this month, Fergie fell in love with the model in anticipation of the birth of her second child.
“Cuteness is welcome! 💖💖,” she commented on Mari’s Instagram bump debut
Fergie also liked a black-and-white social media upload captioned: “We’ve added a little girl to our story. We can’t wait to meet you.”
But this isn’t the first time Dumael has opened up about his past relationships in recent weeks.
On March 2nd’s episode of The Skinny Confidential podcast, the former soap star gave insight into what went wrong between him and Fergie.
“We’re totally different,” he said. “She and I just have different worldviews, and that’s okay.”
Duhamel declared that she had “no regrets” about her failed marriage, adding: “We have a beautiful son.”
