JoJo Siwa said she was rushed to the hospital in severe pain hours before her big performance.
The hitmaker explained on TikTok on Saturday while curling her hair that she was in “excruciating pain” that left her unable to breathe before Friday’s performance at the Mall of America.
The diva said she tried lying down in her room and taking a bath that morning to try to control the pain, which she described as “really bad”, but nothing helped.
After taking a bath, “(the pain) got 100 times worse,” she recalled. Mr Siwa, 22, said after being in the bathtub for four minutes he felt “fainting” and felt like he was going to throw up.
Her mother, Jessalyn Siwa, helped her get dressed, called 911 and loaded her into an ambulance on the way to a Minnesota hospital.
JoJo said her mother was alarmed when she agreed that she should call 911 because the professional dancer is a “very, very tough girl.”
The “Boomerang” hitmaker recalled telling medical staff when she arrived at the hospital that she knew she might need treatment, but that “there are a lot of people at the Mall of America who are waiting and anticipating this performance.”
Once the painkillers took effect, Jojo said, “I started feeling better.”
“I was dancing in my hospital bed,” she joked. “I feel much better.”
An ultrasound revealed that the “Dance Moms” alum had an ovarian cyst that had “ruptured and bled into her stomach,” causing “severe pain.”
“It should stop on its own,” Jojo said, but she plans to see a doctor within a week. She said knowing what it was brought “a huge sense of relief.”
Jojo, who is currently dating her Celebrity Big Brother UK co-star Chris Hughes, said she was “doing well” but “not 100 per cent” after the incident. She also praised the hospital’s medical staff who worked very quickly in the face of the emergency.
The reality TV personality jokingly theorized that some of the staff may have had daughters who wanted to see her perform that day, which explains the urgency to get her in and out of the emergency room in time for the high-energy show.
“Thank you for all the well wishes 🤍 Thank you to the doctors and nurses who worked so fast and helped me get home on time. Good luck 🤍,” the dancer captioned the upload.
Fans in the comment thread praised Siwa’s dedication but urged him to take time to recover.
One person said, “I know you don’t want to disappoint people, but your health comes first,” while another said, “Diva, you need a break!! Take care✨.”
“The fact that you were able to come to everyone even though you were in the hospital shows the type of person you are! You have the kindest heart and no one is more dedicated than you! 🤍🫶🏼💫,” a third TikTok user gushed.
