After forging a deep friendship on Celebrity Big Brother UK, JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes’ bond sparked public interest. Both Siwa and Hughes were contestants on Celebrity Big Brother UK. At the time, Siwa was still dating Australian actor Cass Ebbs. However, viewers took note of her chemistry with Hughes, especially during emotional moments inside the house.
The two often spent time together on the show, with Hughes defending Wrinkle during a difficult showdown with another contestant. Siwa, who appeared on the podcast “The Useless Hotline,” said his support was part of what made her realize “he’s a good person.”
“He’s the kind of person I want my children to be,” she said on the podcast. “He’s such a wonderful gentleman. He’s hilarious and so much fun. He’s a special person.”
“We have a very similar energy and outlook on life,” Siwa added. “Chris was there for me at my worst and I was there for him at his worst. That made this experience so special.”
He also praised Hughes’ reaction to the homophobic comments he received on the show, saying: “It showed Chris’ true character and was so beautiful to watch. Obviously people say what they want to say to other people, but it showed what a real person he is.”

Speculation about Siwa and Hughes’ relationship continued, especially after the two began traveling together and appearing in each other’s social media posts.
On May 20, Siwa performed a cover of “Bette Davis Eyes” in Mexico, changing the lyrics midway through the song to reference Hughes, singing, “He’s got Chris Hughes eyes.”
The next day, Siwa shared an Instagram post to celebrate her 22nd birthday, opening with a photo of her resting her head on Hughes’ shoulder. “This past week will never be forgotten,” she wrote.
Hughes posted a photo of herself and wrote: “The last 7 days have been the most beautiful…😊💫🎂.”
June 2025
On June 1, Hughes appeared to confirm their relationship by posting a photo on Snapchat of him shirtless and kissing Wrinkle’s forehead in bed. The caption read, “Sleepy beauty.”
The next day, Siwa publicly confirmed their romance in an interview with the Guardian, saying, “It’s no longer a platonic relationship, and it was a beautiful development, a beautiful connection. I’m completely head over heels for him.”
She also addressed rumors that the relationship was a publicity stunt, saying, “Obviously, you’ve never been close to us. I’m not going to speak for him, but for me personally, the happiness in my life is just radiating off of me right now.”
“Literally yesterday I was massaging my cheeks. I’ve never felt so much pain from laughing (before),” she added.
She also said that she woke up that morning hearing Hughes singing her song. “You know how you feel when you’re alone? You’re who you really are,” she explained. “I’ve felt that way before, but never around one person.”

On July 12, Hughes spoke to Sons Fabulous Magazine about his relationship with Siwa.
“Sometimes life brings two people together in unexpected ways, and that’s the case here,” Hughes said. “We were supposed to cross paths. We keep telling each other it was a coincidence. Life has blessed me.”
Mr Hughes added that he experienced a “magical feeling” when he met the Dance Moms alumnus and recognized her as “the most important person”.
“I loved the ground she walked on and the way she handled herself,” he continued.
He then presented a timeline of their romance, stating that they were still talking “all the time” even after the show ended. He then “flew to Mexico City to surprise her” and the “best three days of my life” began.
“Our first kiss was really special. It felt like we were in a movie,” he explained. “I can’t keep my hands off her anymore.”
As for the negative and positive attention their relationship has received, Hughes said, “I don’t care,” and continued, “I don’t make an effort to love someone for any other reason than it’s genuine. I’ve been in this industry for eight years, so I’ve had to adapt to criticism from different angles. In fact, I’ve gotten a little stronger mentally over the past few months.”

The two celebrated a special relationship milestone in the fall, posing together on the red carpet at Dancers Against Cancer’s 2025 Gala of the Stars on Oct. 21.
They spoke to E! There’s the news, and Hughes told the outlet that going from friends to even more friends was actually great for them. “People always say, ‘Oh, is that hard?’ Honestly, it’s easy,” he said. “We were friends first, and everyone likes friends.”
Siwa added, “I think the universe literally said, ‘Oh yeah, by the way. You two are in this together, you’ll figure it out.'” And we did! We’ve had previous relationships with each other and I think that’s why this feels so easy because it feels so right. We’re having fun and keeping things light. ”
