FX has released the trailer for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette. The show is the first in Murphy’s “Love Stories” anthology, inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s book “Once Upon a Time: The Fascinating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.”
Starring Paul Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon as Kennedy and Bessette, the series follows their high-profile romance beginning with Kennedy’s high-profile upbringing and reputation as “America’s Most Eligible Bachelorette,” as well as Bessette’s fashion career as an executive at Calvin Klein. The trailer depicts their first introduction and whirlwind courtship, with Bessette ultimately overwhelmed by media scrutiny and intense public attention. The couple married in 1996 but tragically died in a 1999 plane crash that shocked the whole world. This was another misfortune in the Kennedy family that gave rise to the so-called “Kennedy Curse.”
The cast also includes Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein, Leila George as Kelly Klein, Sidney Lemmon as Lauren Bessette, and Constance Zimmer as Anne-Marie Messina.
“Love Story” will premiere in three episodes on February 12th at 9pm ET. Remaining episodes will air weekly until the season finale on March 26th. The show was created by Connor Hines. Executive producers include Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Hines, Erik Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Monica Levinson, Kim Rosenstock, DV DeVincentis, and Tanase Popa, with Max Winkler executive producing and directing the pilot episode. TV number 20 is the studio.
