“Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette” — Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series about a tragic romance between famous historical figures — will premiere in three episodes on February 12 on FX and Hulu. The nine-episode series will air one episode each week until the final episode on March 26th.
Kennedy and Bessette married in 1996, but died in a plane crash in 1999. The series “explores the undeniable chemistry, whirlwind courtship, and high-profile marriage of one of the 20th century’s most iconic couples,” according to the official logline, and is the first in Ryan Murphy’s “Love Stories” anthology for FX.
Kennedy will be played by Paul Anthony Kelly, and Sarah Pidgeon will play Bessette. The series follows the pair’s romance, beginning with Kennedy’s upbringing in the public eye as a bachelor, and Bessette’s fashion career as she rises from sales assistant to executive at Calvin Klein. The cast also includes Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein, Leila George as Kelly Klein, Sidney Lemmon as Lauren Bessette, and Constance Zimmer as Anne-Marie Messina.
A Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette is created by Connor Hines. Executive producers include Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Hines, Erik Kovtun, Nyssa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Monica Levinson, Kim Rosenstock, DV DeVincentis, and Tanase Popa, with Max Winkler serving as executive producer and director of the pilot episode. 20th Television is a studio.
