John Corbett wasn’t surprised that Carrie and Aidan weren’t together when they came to the end with “and like that” exactly three seasons later.
The pair’s recurring relationship for 25 years began with “Sex and the City” season 3, but eventually called it quits in the final episode of “such.”
“I knew I was out since the beginning of (season 2),” Corbett told me on Wednesday while promoting his new inspirational family film, “Soul on Fire.” “I knew how it would end.”
In fact, Corbett says he didn’t believe Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan were right for each other. (Big was shockingly killed during the premiere episode of “And That Way” after suffering a heart attack while working out with the Peloton.)
“Big was great for her and it was the perfect casting with Chris Noss,” Corbett said.
Carrie and Aidan went on their own path between “Sex and the City” after not committing to a marriage proposal. However, Corbett recreated his role in “And so.”
Aidan and Carrie tried to get things to work this time, but the series split them forever. The final episode ended with Carrie revising the epilogue into her novel, reading “A woman realized she was not alone – she was herself.”
“And Just That Way” aired its final episode on August 14th, just two weeks after it was revealed that the third season would be its final season.
“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the ‘sex and the city’ universe is coming to an end,” writer, writer and director Michael Patrick King wrote in a social media post at the time. “As I was writing the final episode of “And like that…” Season 3, it became clear that this could be a great place to stop. ”
Parker wrote on Instagram: “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated the beat of a professional for 27 years. I think I’ve almost loved her. I know that others love her the same way I do. I’m irritated, blamed and entrenched for her.
Corbett said he learned that the show was over through news reports. “When it was announced that it was over, I was just as shocked as everyone else,” he said.
Corbett laughed in that Carrie was ultimately single. “Carrie is going to be alone for about 12 hours. As soon as she breaks with someone else, it’s about seven or eight hours to go into the bag with someone else. Carrie should not be fooled by being alone.
