Jimmy Kimmel lambasted Donald Trump in a new monologue after the president apparently broke down with a reporter who asked him a question he didn’t like. Just hours after the U.S. House and Senate voted to release the Epstein files, Kimmel quipped, “Mr. Trump is not in a happy mood right now. Every time he gets asked about Jeffrey Epstein, he loses his mind.”
Afterward, a viral video of President Trump pointing at a female reporter aboard Air Force One and telling her, “Shut up, pig,” was played late at night.
“He called her a pig,” Kimmel said. “He told a reporter, ‘Shut up, pigs,’ and that barely made the news…If a man said that to a female colleague in a workplace harassment training video, you’d think, ‘Oh, that’s too much. No one would do that.'” If the pilots of Air Force One acted like the president, they wouldn’t be allowed to fly the plane. ”
Kimmel also criticized Trump’s fiery response to questions from ABC News’ Mary Bruce at the White House. She asked the president about the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi in light of a press conference between Trump and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Bruce also asked Trump about the Epstein file, but Trump called him a “terrible reporter” and fired back at ABC, telling ABC, “Your shitty company is one of the culprits…I think you should be stripped of your license from ABC because your news is so fake and so wrong. And we have a great chairman, a chairman, who should be looking into that.”
Trump was likely referring to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who played a major role in Kimmel’s suspension in September. Kimmel responded to Trump’s threat by saying, “I don’t know, but the last time you looked at the FCC people, it didn’t end very well for you.”
As Variety previously reported, Kimmel drew record ratings when he returned to ABC following his suspension. With 6.3 million viewers, it was the most-watched regular episode in Kimmel’s history (excluding Sunday special episodes after major events such as the Oscars).
