Are Jessica Mulroney and Meghan Markle best friends forever?
The stylist’s ex-husband Ben Mulroney gave a surprising update about Jessica and Markle’s friendship during a sit-down with Travis Danraj and Kalman Wong on Wednesday’s episode of the Can’t Be Censored podcast.
While speaking about attending Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding in 2018, the former Canadian Idol host was asked about reports that Markle and Jess are no longer friends.
“This is a story for Jess to tell. I’m not going to speak for her, so if she wants to talk about it…” he said, before adding, “As far as I understand, they have a positive relationship.”
As revealed by Page Six, Ben, 49, and Jessica, 45, appear to be on good terms following their split in July 2025. The couple, who have been married for 16 years, have three children, all of whom were born during Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry.
As for Markle and Jessica, they were longtime friends until 2020, when Jessica was accused of “textbook white privilege” by fellow fashion influencer Sasha Exeter.
And while Jessica quickly apologized for her actions, the Duchess of Sussex was reportedly mortified by the allegations.
“Jessica is by no means a racist, but the way she handled the situation[with the fashion influencer]was tone-deaf and heartbreaking,” Markle said, according to the Daily Mail.
“Meghan said friends are a reflection of friends and because of the issues going on, she can no longer engage with Jessica, at least not in public,” the source continued. “She has to do what she has to do to protect her dignity and reputation.”
It appeared that he and Jessica had cut ties over the situation, but a source told Page Six at the time that their friendship was already on the verge of unraveling.
Ms Markle felt she was “benefiting” from her friend’s status as a royal friend and stylist.
White privilege “The uproar gave Meghan an excuse to permanently sever ties with Jess,” the source explained.
However, Jessica seems to be sticking by their friendship, calling Markle her “sweetest” friend.
By 2025, she had changed her tune, when a source claimed to the Daily Mail that “as part of[Jessica’s]wishes if she could go back, she would not have attended[Markle and Prince Harry’s 2018]wedding.”
“At the time, she was enjoying all the exposure it brought her, but it was that same exposure that caused the rift to explode on social media and led to the end of her friendship and marriage with Meghan,” the source claimed.
Jessica reportedly “had Meghan’s family in mind” but now “considers it to be a ‘dark cloud'”.
