Apple TV+ has postponed the release of “The Savant.” This is an upcoming thriller series starring Jessica Chastain, who works to prevent extremism in the country. This move takes place in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone the ‘Savant’,” reads Apple’s statement. “We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series in a future day.”
The series’ official logline says that “follows a secret agent known as the “savant” to infiltrate online hate groups to stop extremists in the country before she acts.” In it, Chastain plays Jodie Goodwin, a military veteran who works in an anti-hate alliance. There, she secretly visits message boards like 4chan and tries to pull out possible terrorists. Early in the series, under the guise of a white nationalist, she stumbles over a plan for a massive domestic attack, attempting to infiltrate and block the group.
“The Savant” is based on Andrea Stanley’s 2019 cosmopolitan story. The article entitled “Is it possible to stop mass shootings before it happens?” discusses the work of investigators known in real life as “savant” or simply “K.”
Kirk, a well-known, controversial and conservative activist and media personality, was shot and killed on September 10th during an event on Utah’s university campus.
