Jessica Chastain disagrees with Apple for delaying “Savant”

Jessica Chastain has issued a statement regarding the postponement of the Apple TV+ series The Savant.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Apple will withhold the series from its September 26th release. This is a decision that has been primarily contextualized by the recent murders of right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk. In “The Savant,” Chastain plays a secret agent who infiltrates online hate groups to prevent extremism in the country.

The Oscar winner emphasized that he “cares” his partnership with Apple and “deeply respects” his team, but disagrees with delays in the series.

“In the last five years since we did the show, we’ve seen unfortunate violence in the United States: attempts to lure Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, attempts to assassinate Capitol on January 6, attempts to assassinate President Trump, political assassination of Minnesota’s Democratic leader, recent attacks from Single Atian attackers. Shooting at ABC Affiliate Stations in California and more than 300 schools in the country.” “These incidents are far from encompassing any violence seen in the United States, but they show the broader thinking that we have to face across the political spectrum. I have never been away from a difficult subject.

Chastain continues, “The “Savant” is about heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and it feels more urgent than ever to celebrate their courage. I respect Apple’s decision to pause the release for now, but I hope that the show will reach the audience soon.

Writing about Apple’s decision to stop the release of the show, Variety Chief TV critic Aramide Tinubu argued that “Savant” is “the type of show that America needs right now.” She wrote, but the show doesn’t mention Donald Trump’s name, “Apple TV+ appears to be co-co-opting the presidential administration, which appears to be more interested in its own dialogue and perspective. As “Savant” suggests, we don’t want to continue to exist in vacuum cleaners and listen to others while using logic and sound facts.”
