Jennifer Runyon, the actress known for her roles on “Ghostbusters” and the CBS sitcom “Charles in Charge,” died on March 6. Passed away at the age of 65.

Erin Murphy, a close friend of Runyon’s, confirmed Runyon’s death in a Facebook post, writing, “I am so sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman passed away after a short battle with cancer. Some of you knew you were friends before you met. She was a special woman. I will miss you Jen. My thoughts are with your family and your beautiful children.”

Runyon made his feature film debut in the 1980 slasher film “To All a Good Night” and had supporting roles in the 1984 comedies “Up the Creek” and “Ghostbusters.”

The actress also played the lead role as Gwendolyn Pierce in the first season of the 1984 sitcom Charles in Charge. In 1988, she played Cindy Brady in the television movie A Very Brady Christmas. Also in 1988, Runyon starred in “The In Crowd” and was part of the pilot for “Quantum Leap.” She also appeared on the comedy “18 Again!” and guest-starred on “Murder, She Wrote,” “A Man Called Sarge,” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

Runyon was born on April 1, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jim Runyon, a radio announcer and disc jockey, and Jane Roberts, an actress.

In 1991, Runyon married Todd Korman, a college basketball coach who also worked in film and television production between sports seasons. The couple has two children, a son named Wyatt and a daughter named Bailey.

In 2014, Runyon said she had semi-retired from acting and was working as a teacher instead.

“Her love of life and dedication to her family and friends will always be remembered,” her Facebook memorial said. “You can see her from above looking down at us all with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace our Jen.”
