Jennifer Lopez is making a fuss over her breakup with Marc Anthony.
The ‘Vivir Mi Vida’ singer, who shares 18-year-old twins Max and Emme with her husband, opened up about how difficult it was for her to get over her divorce in 2014, after 10 years of marriage.
As seen in Instagram footage from @jpasc24, Lopez initially joked during her residency show in Las Vegas on Friday, “After my third divorce, I really started getting better.”
“Seriously, that’s not funny,” the Grammy nominee continued, before explaining, “It’s actually been a really tough time.”
“I was really about to give up on everything. I mean, I was a single mom with two 3-year-old twins, so I called one of my mentors,” JLo continued.
“Her name was Louise Hay, some of you may know her. She passed away.”
The self-help author helped guide Lopez through some difficult times.
“She said to me, ‘Jennifer, you’re a dancer, right?'” the artist said. “I said, ‘Yes, I do.'” And she said, “What do you do if you’re learning to dance and you make a mistake?” I said, “I’ll keep going until I get the procedure right.” And she said, “You’re right, Jennifer.” Please keep dancing. ”
“And I wish the same for every last one of you,” Lopez mused. “No matter what happens in life, you dance, dance, dance, over and over again. I love you so much!”
The “Let’s Get Loud” singer, who has had four failed marriages, also gave some scathing advice to men during his live performance.
“Everyone knows,” she said. “Now that you’re here, let me tell you a little secret. I love you all so much that I’ll let you in on a little secret.”
“Women don’t need a lot of things!” Lopez revealed. “It’s true. We only need a little. All we need from you is a little sugar. That’s it. You give us a little sugar, sweetness, kindness. We give you a lot in return.”
“Men do a lot,” she agreed. “We’re doing so much more! Do I really need to elaborate?”
“I’ve been saying this for years,” she continued. “It’s not about money. I don’t need your stuff. Get out of there. It’s really that simple. People look at me and see me holding a shiny microphone, and they think I’m expensive.”
According to the hitmaker, there’s nothing wrong with that.
“Yes,” she cried. “I’m expensive. But I brought my own microphone, okay? I don’t need you to buy me anything. Do you guys want us to buy you anything? No!”
Despite a checkered love life dating back to the ’90s, Lopez has maintained a positive outlook on dating and marriage.
She first married Ojani Noa in 1997, but they broke up in 1998. She then married Chris Judd in 2001.
However, Lopez filed for divorce from the dancer in July 2002, after nine months of marriage.
That same year, she met Ben Affleck, and the two became engaged in November 2002. However, the former flames called off their engagement in 2004.
But a few years later, in April 2021, the two rekindled their romance and walked on the island in 2022. However, by August 2024, Lopez filed for divorce.
“She has tried hard to make things work but is heartbroken,” a source told People magazine at the time.
During a conversation with Nikki Glazer in Interview Magazine in October 2024, Lopez told the comedian that she doesn’t regret the pain that came with breaking up with the actor.
“I didn’t have one second,” she confessed. “That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost kick me out for good. It almost did. But now I’m on the other side of it and I’m like, ‘Huh, that’s exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took so long. I’m sorry you had to go through this to me so many times.’
