Jennifer Lopez is looking back on her past relationships.
On October 15, the Kiss of the Spider-Woman actress appeared on an episode of SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show and talked about all things love. Mr. Stern asked her, “Do you really feel loved?” After a long silence, Lopez answered, “No.”
When asked about the “heartbreak” she felt at not receiving love in return, she said: “What I learned is not that I can’t love. It’s that they don’t have the ability. They don’t have it in them. They need to appreciate the little person inside them. They need to love them.”
“And they gave me what they had,” she continued. “They gave me everything. Every time. The ring, everything I wanted. They tried to give me the house, the ring, the marriage, everything. But they didn’t love me. And I didn’t love myself.”
Lopez then reflected on her relationship with Ben Affleck, whom she married in 2022. They filed for divorce in August 2024, and the divorce was finalized in 2025.
“When I got divorced last time, it was the best thing that happened to me,” she revealed. “It really set me on a journey…I mean, I had a religious coach, I had a therapist, I had a couples therapist, I had a personal therapist. I had a coach to understand addiction. I had everything. I was like, ‘If this is going to kill me, I’m going to figure this out.'”
She added that these moments of self-reflection have made her a better person in the long run.
“I got to a point where I thought, ‘Oh, you’re the crux of the problem, no one else.’ When I did that, I can now sit here with more confidence and self-awareness. What happened to me…whether it was my mother or my father…how did I learn to love?” How I felt ignored, all the things that go through my mind as a person. I know who I am, and I’m really grateful for that person, and I feel really comfortable and good about being myself, with all my good and complex parts.”
