Jennifer Lopez paid a touching tribute to her twins Max and Emme on their 18th birthday.
The singer and actress shared an intimate video montage of the twins over the years on Instagram on Sunday. The video, set to One Direction’s “18,” features special moments in their lives, including Emme’s surprise appearance with Shakira at her mother’s Super Bowl LIV halftime show in 2020.
Lopez, who shares Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, recalled giving birth to the twins in the middle of the night during a snowstorm in New York City.
“It was like God was leading you into a world of pure magic!!” she wrote. “In my heart, I always thought your life would be like this!!”
“When I held you as a little girl, I can honestly say it felt like I was holding two angels sent directly from heaven. My life has changed forever,” she continued.
The “Hustlers” star affectionately called his children “Coconuts.”
“The words ‘I love you’ will never be able to express the depth of emotion, love and care I have for you, Coconut,” she wrote. “It’s been just the three of us! We’ve been on this journey together.”
“We have always held onto each other tightly and remained a steady presence in any blizzard,” she added. “And I promise you, my beautiful coconut, no matter how big you get, it will always be that way.”
“Always remember, Lulu, you are my sunshine…and Max, you are amazing just the way you are!!…Happy 18th Birthday, my Wonder Twins!!!”
Last October, the twins made a rare appearance at the New York City premiere of her film Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Lopez, 56, was all smiles as she posed with them on the red carpet.
Emme wore a red velvet suit jacket, black satin shirt, and black pants, while Max wore a multicolored jacket over a burgundy sweater and khaki slacks.
Later that month, Lopez revealed that Max and Emme once confronted her about their lack of involvement in their lives as she navigated life as a single mother following her divorce from Anthony.
During an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” she revealed that this important conversation happened during the coronavirus pandemic. At that time, she was able to “stay at home” and be more present.
“They talked to me and said, ‘You’re not a normal mom. You’re not here every day. You don’t drop them off and pick them up like other moms do,'” she recalled, noting that her children were about 10 years old at the time.
“Then I realized how much they needed me,” she added.
