Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reunited with the premiere of “Spider Woman Kiss” in New York City on Monday, and together they witnessed their first public sightings since their divorce was finalised in January.
Lopez and Affleck were friendly with each other when they spoke to him on the red carpet and were filmed with him leaning in and smiling to talk with her ears.
The two took a photo together, and at one point he placed his hands on her hips to help her walk the red carpet.
Lopez, 56, wore a stunning brown floral dress with a black overlay channeled with spider, while Affleck, 53, maintained his classic in a navy blue suit.
Lopez appeared in the Kiss of the Spider Woman musical and is also an executive producer alongside Affleck.
The Oscar winner cried out that Lopez was “surprising” in an interview with “Extra” in the film.
“Early in Jennifer’s involvement in this… she was just trying to give it all, and she did,” he said. “She worked very hard. You can see like many gifts from her. She’s a person who grew up, you’re a classic musical.”
“She really does it all with this film!” he added.
Meanwhile, Lopez believes she gave her ex-husband by making the film in an interview with “Today” on Monday.
“If it wasn’t for Ben, the film wouldn’t have been made and I’ll always give him that credit,” she said.
Lopez also said making a film was a trial time in her personal life.
“Movie is about escapism. It’s about how film and art save us at the most difficult times of our lives,” she said. “And doing this project has been a very dream come true for me and for me.
Last month, the “Hustler” star reflected her and Affleck’s highly publicized divorce, saying she was “a different person now.”
“It was the best thing that’s ever happened because it changed me,” the actress told CBS News “Sunday Morning.”
She quickly said, “It didn’t change me. It helped me grow (and) become more self-aware.”
On his part, Affleck said he “just respect” for Lopez after his divorce in an interview with GQ published in March.
“I think there’s a tendency to look at breakups and identify the root cause, etc.” he meditated. “But honestly, like I said, the truth is probably a lot more estimator than people believe it or funny.”
“The truth is, when you talk to someone, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, ‘This is what happened,’ he continued. “It’s just about people trying to grasp their lives and relationships in the way we do it all.”
Bill Condon’s Kiss of a Spider Woman is a film adaptation of a stage musical of the same name. Lopez’s performance as Ingrid Luna, also known as Spider Woman, has received positive reviews from critics.
The musical will be appearing in theaters on October 10th.
