Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she asked Robert Pattinson about his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart’s cheating scandal, which Donald Trump famously mentioned in 2012.
The actress shockingly brought up the breakup scandal that dominated headlines more than a decade ago while promoting her and Pattinson’s film “Die My Love” on Thursday’s episode of “The Graham Norton Show.”
“If you think I didn’t ask Donald Trump about his tweet about his breakup with Kristen, of course you should,” Lawrence said when asked about the fact that she and Pattinson achieved huge fame early in their careers by starring in The Hunger Games and Twilight films, respectively.
“That was three days after the photo with her came out. Anything goes. Young people make mistakes,” she continued. “And Donald Trump went on a rant saying, ‘He should break up with her. He could do better than her.'”
The audience laughed, and fellow guest Jeremy Allen White commented, “I don’t remember that at all!”
Fellow guest Tessa Thompson quipped, “It’s like a different kind of ‘I made it,’ you know?”
Stewart, 35, and Pattinson, 39, began dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of “Twilight.” In 2012, she was photographed kissing and cuddling with Snow White director Rupert Sanders, who was then married to Liberty Ross. Mr. Stewart later issued a public apology to Mr. Pattinson.
“I deeply apologize for the hurt and embarrassment I have caused my loved ones and everyone affected,” she said in a statement. “This momentary indiscretion put the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob, at risk. I love him, I love him, and I am so sorry.”
Sanders also said in a statement at the time: “I am completely distraught by the pain I have caused my family. All I have in this world is my beautiful wife and my heavenly children. I love them dearly and I pray that we will get through this together.”
Trump also expressed his opinion on Twitter (now known as X), criticizing Stewart in multiple posts.
“(Kristen) tricked him like a dog and will do it again, just watch. He can do better,” Trump wrote at the time.
Pattinson and Stewart got back together after the scandal, but split for good in 2013.
Ross filed for divorce from Sanders in 2013, and the divorce was finalized a year later.
Stewart criticized Trump in a February 2024 Rolling Stone interview.
“Of course he had to consider my tars and feathers,” Stewart said. “It’s like, ‘What did a 20-year-old kid who didn’t know anything about life do to this guy?'”
“Fuck, you!” she announced as well.
