Jennifer Aniston never adopted, despite struggling with fertility treatments, because she wanted “her own DNA in a little human.”
During an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, co-host Monica Padman spoke with several Friends alums about their experiences freezing their eggs.
Padman said she was unsure whether she wanted children, then asked if she had “peace” in not becoming a mother.
“It’s so peaceful,” the 56-year-old told her. “But I can tell you that there is something out of my control about it, there is literally nothing I can do about it.
“Even though they say, ‘But you can adopt,’ I don’t want to adopt,” she added. “I want my DNA in my little human. Selfish or not, that’s the only way. Whatever it is, I wanted it. Whatever the plan was, it just wasn’t in the plan.”
The “Morning Show” star added: “It’s very emotional, especially when you’re told, ‘It’s over,’ and there’s a weird moment when that happens.”
Aniston has long been the subject of criticism for not starting a family.
Last week, in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, she blamed her busy career in Hollywood for not having children.
“They didn’t know my story and what I went through over the last 20 years trying to find my family because I don’t go out and tell them about my medical struggles,” she told the outlet, noting that her medical problems “are no one else’s business.”
“But there comes a point when I can’t stop hearing it: I’m not going to have a baby, I’m not going to have a family, because I’m selfish and a workaholic,” she continued.
The “Marley & Me” star admitted that he was affected by the rumors because he is “just a human being.”
In 2022, Aniston revealed to the world that she had undergone IVF treatment while dating Brad Pitt.
She also opened up about her infertility treatments in a cover story for Allure magazine in the same year, saying:
“So I’m so grateful for all these wonderful things,” she said at the time, revealing that she had been “trying to get pregnant” for several years.
“I was throwing everything at it,” she said. “If someone had said to me, ‘Freeze my eggs, please,’ I would have given anything. You just don’t think so. So here we are today. The ship has sailed. There’s no more. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.’ I don’t have to think about it anymore.”
She was married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005 before marrying Justin Theroux ten years later. The two were married from 2015 to 2017.
Recently, he has been meeting with hypnotist Jim Curtis.
