The Met Gala may be a fashion Super Bowl, but Jennifer Aniston doesn’t play it.
The “Friend” icon told the glamour that she was invited to the biggest night of fashion, but not only was she faced with the famous stairs wearing a full couture look.
“Yes, I was invited, but I won’t go,” the 56-year-old told the magazine. “It overwhelms me.”
“It’s about being ready and wearing a dress,” she continued. “I’m a girl in ‘jeans, flip-flops and tank tops’. I love dressing up too, but for me it’s a mental game… “Dress up, wear a fancy dress, put on makeup, put on all your hair “pure” and sit in a big room with your peers. (And yes) I’m there to celebrate and enjoy each other, but I get nervous. ”
Aniston confessed that she has had a complicated relationship with the red carpet for a long time.
On the same glamorous chat, the actress spurred critics’ intent. “Some people love finding you like a sport that builds you up and then tearing you apart. Why do people do that?
In her 2021 Instyle cover story, she admitted that the whole “how to pose” element never came naturally.
“(How do you pose) they said, ‘Don’t do this! Always do this!’ I said, ‘Well, that feels strange,’ she said. “I don’t know how to stand on the red carpet, but I’ll do my best.”
It’s not that Aniston has completely vowed them.
A-Lister is currently appearing on Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” and will see her at the Emmy Awards on September 14th, as the fourth season is scheduled to premiere later this month.
And when Aniston appears, she turns out. At Emmy in 2024, she drips crystals in a strapless silver Oscar de la Renta dress and decorated with Tiffany & Company jewelry.
Just a few months ago, she turned her head towards the Golden Globes with her timeless custom black strapless dolce and Gabbana number.
But what is Vogue’s first Monday in May? That’s where she draws the line.
The ultra-exclusive fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute (the ticket is $75,000 per head) is one of the high-pressure carpets she skips and happy to skip.
She’s also a good companion. Stars like Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have not been part of the Met Gala either.
