Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunny Zoe, experienced “terrifying” suicidal thoughts while taking GLP-1 last year.
In a new interview with People magazine published Friday, the 46-year-old explained that December 2025 was “a rough month” for her due to the side effects of semaglutide.
“It was one of the darkest times of my life and it was scary,” said the host of the Dumb Blonde podcast, adding that previously “all I had was anxiety” and “I was proud of the fact that I had never had depression.”
However, she had recently experienced “suicidal thoughts and hallucinations.”
“I want to be anxious because I’m afraid of dying,” Bunny Zoe, real name Alyssa Deford, continued. “I literally don’t want to be depressed because I don’t care if I want to die. Yeah, it was really dark.”
She went on to explain that she “wants people to… talk more about this,” sending a message of strength to those who are struggling with similar feelings.
“I just want people to know that you’re not alone,” she told the outlet. “Everyone goes through ups and downs. You deserve to be here. Please stay. Everyone, stay here. You’re here for a reason and you’re going through this. But don’t make permanent decisions based on temporary feelings. Emotions will pass.”
As for why she started taking weight loss pills in the first place, Bunny Zaw said: “Her insulin levels are really abnormal and (her) body can’t handle it.”
A former escort whose parents had diabetes quipped, “I wish I could be part of the cool group, just be thin and not have to worry about it.”
When her husband, 41, made headlines for his weight loss efforts in recent years, he was vocal about not using Ozempic to lose 275 pounds.
“As a singer, there’s nothing scarier than acid reflux,” he explained on the Bunny Zoe podcast. “That stuff just tears your vocal chords.”
In addition to walking 10,000 steps a day and eating a high-protein diet to lose weight, the country singer started seeing a therapist.
“Right now, I’m just feeding myself what I need, like I actually have a healthy relationship with food,” he told listeners of “The Joe Rogan Experience” in December 2025.
The Grammy winner became emotional at the time as he recalled how his partner and daughter Baylee Ann, 17, were “cheering” for him.
He and Bunny Zoe married in August 2016 and renewed their vows seven years later at the same Las Vegas chapel.
Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley Deford) welcomed son Noah with ex-girlfriend Bailey Ann.
