The Justice Department on Friday released 3 million documents, 2,000 videos and nearly 180,000 images from Jeffrey Epstein’s file. The latest batch included references to celebrities such as Jay-Z, Pusha T and Harvey Weinstein.
No mention of the trio comes from Epstein’s personal records or reports corroborated by law enforcement. The two rappers and the disgraced Hollywood mogul were named in archived information to the FBI as part of the Epstein investigation. This information in and of itself does not mean that these individuals have been investigated or that they are guilty of the charges brought.
According to an FBI crisis investigation report included in the latest Epstein release, an anonymous victim who claimed to have been drugged and sexually abused several times over the years said Pusha T (Terrence Levar Thornton) was one of her “handlers.” The victim also said in the report that she once woke up in the same room as Weinstein and Jay-Z (Sean Carter). The report also said that in both scenarios, the victims had been given drugs, so their memories were clouded.
Representatives for Jay-Z and Pusha T did not immediately respond to Variety’s requests for comment.
The new film also features director Mira Nair, the mother of New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani. Her name was mentioned in an email to Epstein from publicist Peggy Segal. Segal wrote that he saw Nair at an afterparty for the 2009 film “Amelia,” which Nair directed. This email suggests no wrongdoing or investigation.
A representative for Niall did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for comment.
Also included in the file were messages between LA28 Olympic Committee Chair Casey Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted child sex trafficker in connection with Epstein. In one correspondence, Maxwell offers Wasserman a massage that will “drive you crazy.”
In a statement obtained by Variety, Wasserman said his interaction with Maxwell was “more than 20 years ago” and “long before her horrific crimes came to light.” He also denied any relationship with Epstein.
Wasserman wrote, “I have never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip on Epstein’s plane in 2002 as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation. I deeply regret having had any relationship with either of them.”
After an unprecedented bipartisan push from Congress, President Donald Trump signed the Epstein File Transparency Act in November, bringing previously sealed materials related to the Epstein investigation into the public spotlight. Trump has a checkered past with the late New York financier, but has steadfastly denied any knowledge of his criminal activities. Throughout President Trump’s second term, the Epstein file remained a cultural topic as well as a political one, being referenced on everything from “Saturday Night Live” to “South Park.”
