Amazon Prime Video integrates business leadership under Jay Marine, an Amazon veteran who previously led Prime Video’s global sports and advertising activities. Albert Cheng, who piloted Prime Video’s remaining US operations, will move on to a new role aimed at moving forward with the adoption of AI AI tools and AI enhancement services for Studio’s creative partners.
Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, stressed that the integration would flatten and streamline the organization in line with directives from Amazon CEO Andy Jassy.
In a note to staff sent Thursday, Hopkins highlighted “the need to create a larger role, a flatter organization, and a single thread leader that can push down on decision-making and move for us all faster.” He also pointed out “lightning speed speeds that augments and accelerates the way we work and guide new opportunities to create and distribute the entertainment and sports our customers love.”
The reorganized ORG structure “puts itself in a stronger position to deliver faster for customers and can become even more strategic about key bets in the AI space,” writes Hopkins.
Marine has been with Amazon since 2002 and has increased her rankings on her Kindle unit. He spent two years as a special advisor to Jeff Bezos at the time. In 2015 he united as VP of Prime Video in Europe and India. He was promoted to VP and Head of Global Sports and Advertising in 2023.
Cheng joined Amazon in 2018 after playing senior business and digital roles at Disney and ABC. He was Amazon Studios Chief Operating Officer before his promotion to VP on Prime Video.
