Love, sex and death loom in suburban Missouri in HBO’s upcoming comedy series “DTF St. Louis,” starring Jason Bateman and David Harbor as middle-aged fathers caught up in a love triangle.
The seven-episode limited series launches March 1 at 9 p.m. on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
The trailer begins with Harbor’s corpse. Bateman had an affair with Harbor’s wife, played by Linda Cardellini, and appears to have introduced Harbor to a sex app called DTF St. Louis (or “Down to Fuck” for the uninitiated) in an attempt to sabotage their marriage.
In the perverted, darkly funny trailer, Bateman shares one of his sexual fantasies with Cardellini. “I want you to do your job while you sit on my face. Complete your tasks on your phone.”
“DTF St. Louis” also stars Richard Jenkins, Joy Sunday, Arlan Roof, Peter Sarsgaard and Chris Perfetti. The showrunner is Stephen Conrad (creator of The Patriot and Ultra City Smith), who will serve as executive producer along with Bateman and Harbour. The EP also features Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch. Molly Allen. Bruce Tellis. Michael Nelson. Michael Costigan of Bateman’s Aggregate Films. Bravo Axolotl KC Wenson. Jennifer Shah of Elephant Pictures. James Lasdun. and MGM Television.
DTF St. Louis was originally announced to be in development in 2022, starring Haber and Pedro Pascal. The series was initially based on a New Yorker article, but has since evolved into an original idea unrelated to the work.
