Jamie Bell, Cosmo Jarvis and Thomasin McKenzie travel to 14th century England for director Paul Greengrass’ The Uprising. The historical epic is set during the Peasant Rebellion and will star Andrew Garfield, who was previously announced. Focus Features will distribute “The Uprising” domestically. The cast also includes Jonny Lee Miller and Woody Norman.
Garfield stars as the leader of a dramatic rebellion against King Richard II. This uprising occurred in the aftermath of the Black Death, and the king was raising taxes to finance the Hundred Years’ War. It was previously announced that Katherine Waterston would also be joining the cast.
Bell’s credits include “All Of Us Strangers” and “Undertow.” Jarvis starred in the streaming sensation “Shogun.” Mackenzie has appeared in “Jojo Rabbit” and “Last Night in Soho.” Miller’s works include “Elementary” and “Trainspotting.” Norman’s IMDB includes “Sukkwan Island” and “C’mon C’mon”.
Jason Blum is producing through Blumhouse along with Gregory Goodman, Joanna Kaye and Greengrass. Lars Sylvest will produce through Thank You Pictures and Joe Neuroter will produce through Supernix.
Greengrass’ latest project, The Lost Bus, stars Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. It was released theatrically before being shown on Apple TV.
