Jennifer Lopez is back as a Las Vegas showgirl.
On Tuesday night, she took the stage for her debut performance of “Up All Night Live in Las Vegas,” marking the end of her long-awaited residency.
Scheduled to perform through March, Lopez had a successful first show, reuniting with collaborator Ja Rule to perform some throwback hits.
A sold-out crowd at Caesars Colosseum cheered as the stars reunited and early ’80s favorites “Ain’t It Funny” and “I’m Real” were revived.
The show opens with a Broadway-themed medley. “Gypsy”‘s “Let Me Entertain You,” her own “Waiting for Tonight,” and “Mambo!” From “West Side Story,” to the iconic “Jenny from the Block,” to the 2007 hit “Do It Well,” this performance became an instant hit.
The wardrobe did not disappoint either.
Lopez is known for regularly bringing out her inner showgirl during her performances, and the Las Vegas main stage was no exception.
During the concert, Lopez wore a multi-embellished cut-out bodysuit that boasted beaded fringe and torso detailing, with a matching microphone covered in crystals.
Another pink satin and sheer lace corset bodysuit reminded me of a Playboy bunny costume without ears.
Lopez even seemed influenced by the Las Vegas greats of an earlier era, wearing a fur-trimmed robe over a pink satin gown and a purple sequined dress with a matching feather boa for “Love Don’t Cost A Thing.”
The kicker came with a fully sheer lace catsuit, complete with a spiderweb-inspired cape and sculptural high collar.
That alone attracted attention, but she also took the drama to the next level by wearing it while singing the theme song for her posthumous movie (based on a musical…novel), “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” which was just released in October.
