Ivanka Trump shared her perspective and praise after the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“It’s merciless, what happened and very personal,” the eldest son told CNBC on Friday. “I knew Charlie, who was approaching a decade now. And he was a good man, very principled, and he was a champion of debate, dialogue, and freedom of speech. He was the cornerstone of democracy.”
Ivanka went on to say that the commentator, who was assassinated Thursday at age 31, “eventually he was silent because he was persuasive.”
“I think he represents the kind of politics we should aim for. If you’re not afraid of people who oppose you, you actually welcome them into conversation and discussion.
The 43-year-old mom of three said, “If we stop talking to each other, it all breaks. For fear of someone’s ability to speak, Charlie was one of the best: his tongue, his brain, that was his sword.
The Planet Harvest co-founder added that the death of the Turning Point USA co-founder was “heartbreaking.”
“And obviously, like in the rest of the country, my heart is with his beloved wife Erica,” she said in part. “He loved her and his beautiful children very much.”
The conservative commentator passed away on September 10th after being shot while talking to thousands of attendees at Utah Valley University, about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City.
The famous appearance was part of the conservative critic’s “American Comeback Tour,” and was scheduled to stop by campuses across the United States to spark political debate and debate among students.
The wide daytime murder ignited a firestorm of grief and controversy, and President Donald Trump called the activist murdered in a social media post that announced his death “legends.”
Celebrities from Brittany Mahomes to Charlie Sheen spoke on various platforms. On Friday, the “Sight” host agreed with Sarah Haynes that “there is no place for political violence.”
Charlie’s widow Erika Kirk, 36, vowed in a speech Friday that the tour would continue after Charlie’s death.
Tyler Ferguson, 22, of Utah, the father of the two suspected murderers, was arrested Friday. According to the post, he is expected to be charged with aggravated murder.
