Britney Spears has developed a rocky relationship with her family after her parents officially ended almost four years ago.
Jamie Spears, the father of the “toxic” singer, arranged a legal guardian on her daughter in February 2008 after the pop star’s headline making meltdown.
In June 2021, Britney, 43, argued in a public court hearing that she didn’t do anything “bad” to help her relatives get free from her father’s control.
“Anyone involved with my father and this sanctuary… they should be in jail,” she said at the time.
Britney’s 13-year guardian finally ended in November 2021, but her family dynamics have continued to evolve since gaining her freedom.
Sources said this week that Britney’s relationship with her father is “nonexistent” and there is no open way for her to reconcile.
Another insider agreed, and told the outlet “There’s zero communication on either side, and that’s how she likes it.”
The second source said that “further” Britney would “never” forgive Jamie, and that he agreed to live a “very quiet life now.”
However, another source claimed that Britney “loves” Jamie, who is only 73, and that she overturned his medical expenses and even offered to be the best doctor when he needed to amputate his leg for the 2023 infection.
Britney is said to have a more “complex” relationship with her mother, Lynn Spears.
“Their relationship is very vulnerable,” the first source said. “(Lynn) most often contacts Britney, they talk and text them every few weeks.
The second source says the mother-daughter duo “still have the highest and lowest values” and is working on the relationship every day. Lynn, 70, reportedly wants to be “close” with Britney again, but he “understands” that his daughter is still “harmed and hurt” by her parents.
“She hopes she can focus on the future rather than one day,” the second source said.
Britney and her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, are said to be planning to meet in person after the infamous dropout in 2022.
“Zoey 101” alums, 34, and Britney, are famously shot each other famously in their respective memoirs released in 2022 and 2023.
“Britney and Jamie Lynn are doing well and they plan to get together soon,” the first source said. “The girls have decided to keep relationship issues away from the public’s eyes, and Jamie Lynn plans to visit Britney in Louisiana next month.”
Britney has maintained a close relationship with his brother Brian over the past few years.
The 48-year-old film producer moved to Britney’s home after she and Sam Asgari filed for divorce in August 2023. Brian was recently discovered on several vacations with his sister.
“Britney and Brian are still close,” the original source shared. “He avoids the rest of the family and her problems.”
As for her two children, she shares with her ex-husbands Kevin Federline, Sean Preston and Jaden James.
“The boys are mature and they want a mother in their own lives. Britney is really happy about it,” the Insider told Weekly in an article published on September 9th.
“She’s so grateful to have them in her life. She feels the whole thing again.”
Jaden, 18, led the charges by reuniting with his mother, with the second insider saying, “Britney and Jaden had close bonds from a very young age, so slowly entering the old trench is special and (healing).
But 19-year-old Britney and Sean are restructuring their relationship at a slower pace.
“[Shawn and Britney]are slowly building more trust,” the first insider said. “Britney respects his wishes and is very thoughtful about his (feeling).”
Page 6 reported last year that Britney was reunited with Jaden after years of alienation.
Britney has recently raised concerns about her mental health after sharing a video of herself in a Los Angeles home covered in dog poop.
The family told the Daily Mail that they were “worried” about the singer, claiming she “doesn’t work at all” and “has an episode.”
“Her house is a mess. She doesn’t clean after the dog. She doesn’t clean there every day. She’s not working for adults to work,” said a relative.
Britney wrote on Instagram Wednesday, “I’m embarrassed by those who reviewed my house in my pyjamas!!”
