Little Rascals star Bug Hole has abandoned Hollywood to live off-grid with his family in Arkansas, and through X he documents their “rustic” existence.
The child actor revealed in December 2025 that he doesn’t own a computer or TV, but he does have a phone.
The 40-year-old regularly posts photos of his wife, Jill DeGroff, and their five children (four daughters and one son) celebrating holidays and going on nature walks.
Although the names of his young children have not been made public, Hall made headlines in September 2025 when he referred to his youngest son as his “heir” and his daughters as “dishwashers.”
He and DeGroff married in 2017, and Hall honored DeGroff’s “beautiful darling bride” on her birthday in November 2025.
“She was bragging this morning about how she got married before I was old enough to have five kids,” the “Get a Crew” star, who was 32 at the time of her marriage, wrote. “Pray for her pride.”
As he explained to the Daily Mail on Wednesday, the couple have taken a “vow of poverty” and are living in a camper van with his brothers while Hall builds a home on 80 acres of land.
Hall regularly shares projects at home, from hauling bags of corn to struggling to unclog “frozen poo…clogs” in the toilet.
He shared the steps to “build a house from scratch” with another social media user in November 2025, claiming that “the steps are easy enough,” including “identifying the home site” and “cleaning up” it with “fun chainsaw work.”
“I build stone and timber houses, and the design is the fun part, too,” said Hall. “Pick up some graph paper and start drawing until you’re happy with what you’re building.”
“I also recommend using a tape measure to draw your ground-level room to actual size, so you can get a feel for how big you want it to be,” continued the retired actor, who revealed that he pays less than $300 in annual property taxes. “I also recommend making everything bigger so you have room to grow.”
On Wednesday, Hall told the Daily Mail that he plans to eventually establish his own hydroelectric dam and plumbing and electrical system.
The self-described “Catholic extremist” owns a “chip-equipped vehicle” that he “can repair himself” and occasionally shadows his children’s daily activities online while working.
“In far-flung corners of remote lands, children are still being raised the same way they always were,” he captioned a photo of his siblings playing barefoot last year.
Earlier this month, he said he bonded with one of his daughters as he was “cutting 80 pieces of blocking on a miter saw” while “preparing for his first communion.”
She and her siblings wore matching costumes for Christmas 2025, opened simple toys such as Lincoln Logs, and played a family football game on Thanksgiving.
“This was the first time my kids got to see it or participate in it,” Hall wrote via X during the 2025 holiday. “It was a great opportunity to teach the kids that sportsball is something you play, not something you watch on TV.”
Hall, known for his roles as Alfalfa on Little Rascals and Jack Downey on Get a Crew, left Los Angeles for Michigan after being arrested in 2020 for blowing up an air duster can.
“I didn’t want to work in a job that was basically meaningless, just to entertain people or distract people,” he said in an interview Wednesday.
