The Japanese blockbuster, Demon Slayer: Kimet No Yaiba – Movie: Infinity Castle, won $3.8 million from 499,120 admissions between September 5th and 7th. According to Kobis, a tracking service run by the Korean Film Council, the film has now accumulated $30 million from the 3.9 million tickets sold.
“The Conjuring: Last Rites” debuted in second place with $1.2 million from 164,695 admission. The latest film in the horror franchise, directed by Michael Chavez and starring Patrick Wilson and Bella Farfaiga, accounted for 14.8% of the market.
The Korean thriller “Murder Report” opened third, bringing $1.05 million to $1.05 million from 149,954 admissions. Directed by Jo Young Jung and starring Jo Yong Jung and John Sung Il, the film follows a reporter who agrees to interview a serial killer who claims responsibility for the 11 murders.
Brad Pitt racing drama “F1” ranked fourth at $634,000, bringing the cumulative gross to $37.8 million. The local hit “My Daughter is a Zombie” followed by a total of $37.4 million for $604,000.
Chinese romance “Just For Meet You” added $177,000, pushing its cume to $749,000. Directed by Liu Yulin, the film stars Liu Haocun as Xu Nian Nian and Song Weilong as Yang Yi. Adapted from a popular youth novel, it tells the story of a transfer student whose competition with top students turns into a gentle romance, raising the question of whether they can stand up to years of emotion when they meet again later in life.
The US body horror Together opened for $92,000, while the Chinese animation “The Three Little Pigs 3” won a preview of $66,000.
Japanese mystery horror “Kinki” has added $63,000 with a cumulative $1.9 million. Rerelease’s “ET The Extra-Trestrial” rounded out the top 10 at $34,000, bringing the Korean life total to $102,000.
The top 10 films combined $8.3 million over the weekend, down from the previous frame’s $9.8 million.
