India’s WAVES Film Bazaar, in collaboration with ProducerLAND, is hosting this year’s NFDC (National Film Development Corporation) Producers Lab, a professional development initiative aimed at supporting mid-career producers across India.
The program is designed to strengthen the production base and build clarity of practice among participants. The event will be held from November 20th to 24th as a private event with 12 selected producers.
This partnership follows ProducerLAND’s recently signed Transmedia Lab, which focuses on long-form, world-building-based intellectual property design and cross-platform storytelling. The initiative took a creator-centric, audience-focused approach and reimagined the impact not only in terms of reach, but also in how stories sustain meaning and community across platforms.
Storiculture, ProducerLAND’s parent company, aims to be more than just a franchise, it is a pilot program that establishes an architecture for the storytelling phenomenon of the Global South.
The NFDC Producers Lab has two tracks. A career track to support producers in their professional trajectory, and a project track for producers to develop a specific film project. Transmedia Lab fellows will join the Bazaar to create curated networking and collaboration opportunities.
These initiatives represent an increasing focus in the Indian film and media ecosystem on developing producers who can navigate the modern creative, financial and technological environment.
Storiculture continues to lead strategic IP development in India, working on high-end real estate that addresses ecosystems, gender, identity, technology, society and culture, while supporting ecosystem building and new voices.
Among Storiculture’s programs is Monsters of My Mind, a world of transmedia storytelling around youth mental health. This initiative visualizes inner experiences such as grief, anxiety, identity, and resilience as “monsters” within a shared narrative world. We are currently running a 6-month Comic Book Lab where 10 young creators develop a diverse anthology of stories with dedicated mentorship, development, and distribution support. Over the next three years, the universe will expand into a broader ecosystem across digital, print, and community-based experiences.
“ProducerLAND has always put producers front and center, bringing new perspectives to an industry in transition,” said Celine Loop, ProducerLAND. “As technology reshapes our roles, we are choosing to be catalysts and embrace the future. Our partnership with WAVES Film Bazaar brings these important conversations to the forefront.”
WAVES Film Bazaar, part of NFDC’s ongoing efforts, serves as a platform for nurturing emerging talent, co-productions, story exchange and projects in Indian cinema and independent storytelling. It will be held simultaneously with the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
