The Indian Institute of Creative Technology has formalized its educational partnership with Australia’s Deakin University through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the WAVES Film Bazaar, the market arm of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The deal was signed under the Australia-India Creative Collaboration Initiative in partnership with the National Film Development Corporation.
The MoU establishes a framework for both institutions to drive innovation and foster interdisciplinary efforts in creative, technology-focused education.
“This partnership strengthens our mission to develop world-class talent and push the boundaries of immersive and interactive media education,” said Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT.
The partnership includes academic programs, training, and research in creative and applied technologies. Planned initiatives include workshops, master classes, and student and faculty exchange programs. Both institutions will also work with industry partners to ensure the practical application of joint research.
The IICT-Deakin agreement is one of several Australia-India partnerships announced at Bazaar. Australia’s Melbourne Indian Film Festival has formalized a multi-year partnership with IFFI through three separate Memorandums of Understanding, establishing a framework for festival exchange, talent development programs, a producer lab, and a joint distribution fund to support South Asian films in both regions. The second MoU brought together Deakin University’s Film School and the Film and Television Institute of India and focused on curriculum collaboration and joint workshops.
Indian entertainment platform PTC Punjabi has also partnered with Australian production company Temple to co-screen three Punjabi feature films under the Australia-India Audiovisual Co-production Treaty. Additionally, Australia’s National Indian Film Festival has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NFDC India and IFFI, positioning the festival as a key platform for Indian films in Australia.
IICT will also be operating a booth at WAVES Film Bazaar, where attendees will participate in interactive activities and receive information about the institution’s programs and initiatives.
