The late Barbara Walters regretted firing Joy Behar twice from “The View.”
Behar, 82, reflects that he has been xed multiple times from the talk show during his Wednesday appearance on “What What Happes Live.”
“She actually fired me twice,” Behar told host Andy Cohen, “I have something to do with Democrats and Republicans.”
The comedian said, “That’s what they told me. So she plundered me, right? So we’re going to talk about the air.”
Behar told viewers that she was leaving, but just to encourage Walters to take a break in the middle, “Tell me you changed your mind.”
She replied, “Barbara, you fired me. How are you supposed to change my mind?”
She claimed that Walters, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 93, “remorrowed” the decision, and Cohen pointed out that the network had revived her.
In particular, Behar was one of the original “view” panelists when the talk show premiered in 1997, and left in 2013.
On Wednesday, the daytime Emmy winner said, “They didn’t just bring me back, they begged me. Let’s be clear.”
Cohen, 57, said, “Yes, I did. … They broke the bank to get you back.”
In March 2017, Behar admitted to people that despite being initially portrayed as such, it was not “100% (her) choice.”
“Someone didn’t leave me,” she insisted. “When they said they weren’t updating, I said, ‘Like, I’m out of here.’ I didn’t like the way the show was going at the time. ”
Like Behar, he told Time Magazine in July 2022 that he was “happy” to be fired from “The View.”
She said, “I was basically tired of the show at that point, and I don’t even remember why.”
Recently, Behar told Page Six only that her first shot came from the “bean spill” in which Rosie O’Donnell is on the show.
Walter was “enthussed” about her colleague’s “big mouth,” but said, “she rehired me on the same day.”
Behar said in June that she “don’t know” what she was cut for the second time.
“The View” is now in its 29th season, with Behar co-hosting with Woopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
