Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung face off in the 1970s crime noir “Made in Korea.” The two-episode series will premiere on Disney+ on December 24th.
The series stars Hyun Bin (“Crash Landing on You,” “Secret Mission”) as Baek Ki-tae, an ambitious KCIA agent who lives a dangerous double life in 1970s South Korea. He works as a government operative during the day, but at night he uses his underworld connections to consolidate his power, protect his brother, and conduct illegal activities that generate significant revenue for the agency.
Jung Woo-sung (“Tell Me I Love You,” “12.12: That Day”) co-stars as Jang Gun-young, a corrupt prosecutor who is determined to bring down Ki-tae. Woo Do-hwan (“Bloodhound”, “Mr. Plankton”) plays Baek Ki-hyun, Ki-tae’s younger brother.
The series will be written by Park Eun-kyo (“Mother,” “The Ordinary Family,” “Silent Sea”) and Park Joon-seok (“Ordinary Family”), directed by Woo Min-ho (“The Next Man,” “Inside Men,” “Harbin”), and produced by Hive Media Corporation (“Inside Men,” “The Next Man,” “12.12: The Day”).
Following the initial broadcast of 2 episodes, “Made in Korea” will release two additional episodes on December 31st, and the last two episodes will be broadcast weekly until January 14th. The series has already been renewed for a second season, which is currently in production.
The thriller joins Disney+’s growing Korean drama content launching in 2025, including “Unmasked,” “Nine Puzzles,” “Hyper Knife,” “Low Life,” “The Murky Stream” and “Tempest.”
The streamer has additional Korean series scheduled for 2026, including “Goldland” starring Park Bo-young, “Perfect Crown” starring IU and Byun Woo-seok, and the return for a second season of “Killer’s Shop” starring Lee Dong-wook and Kim Hye-jun.
