Variety exclusively reports that Hulu has acquired the rights to Liara Tammani’s novel “This Ain’t Our First Rodeo” and plans to develop it as a television series.

The YA novel was originally published in February by Green Willow Books, an imprint of HarperCollins. The book is described as a modern western love story set in the Houston rodeo world. The official description reads: “Three years after their dreamy first date, when life throws Josie and Sean back together, their second chance at love is anything but easy.”

This Ain’t Our First Rodeo is Tamani’s fourth novel, following the acclaimed works Calling My Name, All the Things We Never Knew, and What She Missed. She holds a Master of Arts degree from Vermont College of Art and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.

She is repped by WME, Danau, Carlson & Lerner, and Lyons & Salky Rowe.

The news of the “This Ain’t Our First Rodeo” acquisition is the latest YA project announced to be in development at Hulu in recent weeks. The streamer is also developing the series “Capsize,” based on the upcoming book “Kill the Lax Bro,” and Hulu recently ended the college drama “Tell Me Lies,” also based on the book of the same name. Hulu also has the new drama “Phony,” starring Sam Nivola and Connie Britton, as well as Mindy Kaling’s series “Not Fit,” which follows a group of twenty-somethings fresh out of college living in New York. Hulu also has drama pilot “Foster Dade,” currently in contention with executive producer Greg Berlanti.
