Hudson Williams is responding to comments about his personal life amid a growing “fierce rivalry.” Williams, who plays Shane Hollander on the hit Crave/HBO Max drama, was featured on the latest episode of Deux U, a podcast hosted by Deuxmoi.
While discussing the show, a co-host said, “I didn’t think the acting was that strong,” to which the host responded, “People don’t watch it for the acting.” Then she said, “There’s no conspiracy.”
The second half of the episode discussed the cast’s personal lives. “When I received the Dumois newsletter, it was revealed that Hudson Williams has a girlfriend, but this is from a fan and is not information that I received,” the host said, revealing the name of the alleged girlfriend and revealing that she is a tattoo artist who gave Williams and co-star Connor Storey matching “Sex Sells” tattoos.
The clip received a lot of backlash via Instagram and has since been deleted. There are still more podcast episodes left. But before the post was removed from Instagram, Williams commented: “As you know, I’m starting to hate you Dumois.”
Shortly after the series debuted in November, creator Jacob Tierney, Williams, and Story did a joint interview with Extra and were asked if they needed to talk about their personal relationships. Tierney immediately spoke up.
“I’ll answer this for them. I don’t see any reason to go into that,” he said. “Let me tell you about the casting of both of these roles. You can’t ask questions like that when casting, right? It’s actually against the law. So what you have to assess is the person’s enthusiasm and willingness to do the job. And that’s what makes these two people so great. That’s where they went into it like, “Yeah, we’re here to do this, and we’re here to make this story feel authentic and as real as possible.” And they hit it out of the park. ”
In an interview posted on Dec. 22, Storey told Vulture that she understands the interest in her personal life, but that she has no interest in sharing more than that.
“I’ve never had so many eyes on me in my life. They’ve seen me naked, they’ve kissed me, they’ve seen me fall in love with a man on screen. It’s normal for people to try to transfer that to me and Hudson’s real life,” he said. “I’m honored to be able to bring to life a character that makes so many people feel seen, understood and represented. I think that goes beyond who they sleep with in real life.”
