Let’s talk about the realization of “Kill Bill.”
Maya Hawke says her mother, Uma Thurman, warned her about Quentin Tarantino’s long-rumored foot fetish.
The “Stranger Things” actress appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast and was asked if her mother ever gave her any advice about working with directors.
Hawk responded that Thurman “told her, ‘Keep your shoes on.'”
Poehler and Hawke, who collaborated on Inside Head 2 in 2024, both had a good laugh.
“Keep it on, baby. Perfect advice. Perfect,” the “Parks and Recreation” actress said.
Hawke, 27, starred in Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Thurman, 55, co-starred with Tarantino in 2003’s Kill Bill 1 and 2004’s Kill Bill 2.
During an interview on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in July 2024, Thurman famously responded to rumors that Tarantino, 62, was interested in feet.
“There’s a rumor that Quentin Tarantino has a foot fetish,” O’Brain told Thurman, noting that there were several close-ups of foot fetishism in the Kill Bill series.
Thurman insisted that Tarantino “categorically denies” the allegations, but encouraged O’Brien to interview him about it.
“He maintains that every foot shot was essential to telling the story,” Thurman said of the toe shots.
O’Brien disagreed, explaining that many of the scenes showing her legs seemed pointless to the story.
“Sometimes it just doesn’t make any sense,” he laughed. “There’s a serious plot going on, and then there’s a languid shot of feet out of nowhere. It’s not true, but I’m just curious. It makes you wonder.”
When Thurman suggested asking O’Brien again about what Tarantino’s legs were like, he joked, “I’m going to be barefoot during the interview.”
“It might distract him,” O’Brien laughed. “He might start sweating, but let’s see what happens.”
Apart from the two action thrillers, Thurman also collaborated with Tarantino on the 1994 film Pulp Fiction.
Thurman received critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mia Wallace in the dark film.
It’s unclear whether Tarantino actually has a foot fetish, but in 2023, Page Six reported that Tarantino allegedly paid a woman $10,000 to lick a woman’s feet at a strip club.
