These movies are trying to make money.

Here are the nominations for the 2026 Oscars, which recognizes the best film work from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.

As always, 10 films are vying for the night’s biggest award, Best Picture. One of the 10 films was “Sinners,” which made history this morning, with 16 total nominations making “Sinners” the most nominated film in the 98-year history of the Academy Awards.

Also vying for the top prize are “One Battle After Another,” which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture, and “Hamnet.” The blockbuster “F1”. “Marty Supreme” marks Timothée Chalamet’s first involvement as a producer. “Bugonia” is a collaboration between Emma Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos.

This year’s lineup includes two films that were also nominated in the Best International Feature Film category: The Secret Agent and Sentimental Value.

This comedic sci-fi thriller from director Yorgos Lanthimos and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Will Tracy stars Jesse Plemons as a conspiracy theorist who kidnaps a pharmaceutical company CEO (Oscar-nominated Emma Stone) who he believes is an alien sent from his planet to destroy Earth and everyone and everything on it.

“F1” stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes. Sonny Hayes is a former F1 driver whose career was derailed by a crash, and who returned to the sport after 30 years at the request of a former teammate who now owns a racing team. With the racing team struggling and potentially collapsing by the end of the season, it’s up to Sonny to mentor his young teammate (Damson Idris) and bring home the victory that will save the APXGP team.

Where is F1 available? As an Apple Original movie, F1 is currently streaming on Apple TV (7-day free trial for new users).

Jacob Elordi was nominated for an Oscar for his role as the Creature (also known as Frankenstein’s Monster) in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. This faithful retelling of Mary Shelley’s gothic novel tells the story of a selfish scientist (Oscar Isaac) determined to create life despite the dangerous consequences.

Where is “Frankenstein” available? Directed by Guillermo del Toro, “Frankenstein” is available exclusively on Netflix.

“Hamnet”

“Hamnet” tells the true story behind one of the most famous plays of all time, William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” The film, starring Paul Mescal as Shakespeare and Jesse Buckley as his wife Agnes, depicts Shakespeare’s family life before and after the tragedy.

Where is ‘Hamnet’ available? You need to head to your local movie theater and check out ‘Hamnet’ right now.

Timothée Chalamet plays the lead role in Marty Supreme, which marks Chalamet’s eighth Best Picture nomination (and his third Best Actor nomination). Directed by Josh Safdie, the film follows professional table tennis player Marty Moser in his pursuit of greatness, going through hell and back to achieve a dream no one else in his life can fathom.

Where is Marty Supreme available? Marty Supreme is currently playing in theaters and available for pre-order on Prime Video. The release date of the digital version has not been determined.

In addition to the Best Picture nominee and several others, actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Teyana Taylor are nominated for their performances in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. DiCaprio plays an exiled revolutionary whose teenage daughter is pursued by a former enemy, a corrupt military man, and drawn back into a life of combat.

Marcelo (Academy Award nominee Wagner Moura) is on the run, targeted by a dictator during Brazil’s ruthless political turmoil in 1977. Marcelo hopes to escape Brazil with his young son, with the help of his compatriots who are part of the country’s growing underground resistance movement.

Where is The Secret Agent streaming? The Secret Agent is currently playing in theaters, or you can pre-order it on Prime Video. The release date of the digital version has not been determined.

Director Joachim Trier’s family drama received the most acting nominations of any film this year, with four total nominations. The film tells the story of sisters Nora (Renate Rijnsve) and Agnes (Inga Ybsdotter Lileas) who reunite with their estranged father Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård), who is a film director and is working on a film in which he hopes to return. Gustav offers Nora a role in a movie. She turns it down, but then he realizes the role has been given to an eager young American starlet (Elle Fanning).

Where is “Sentimental Value” available? “Sentimental Value” is currently available for purchase ($19.99) and rental ($14.99) from Prime Video.

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners broke the Academy record and became the most nominated film in Oscar history with 16 nominations (the record was previously held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land with 14 nominations). Michael B. Jordan stars in the film in the dual roles of twins Smoke and Stack. The twins return to Mississippi between World Wars and use money stolen from a Chicago crime syndicate to open a juke joint serving the local black community, unaware that a supernatural evil is lurking right in front of them, ready to attack.

Spanning eight decades, “Train Dreams” chronicles the quiet life of a lumberjack and railroad worker (Joel Edgerton) in the early 20th century Pacific Northwest through love, loss, progress, and connection.

The 2026 Academy Awards ceremony will be hosted by Conan O’Brien and will be held on March 15th at 7pm ET. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC and streamed on Hulu.
