The nominees for the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards will be announced on Tuesday.
As exclusively revealed by Variety, “Industry” and “Rye Lane” star David Johnson (last year’s BAFTA Rising Star winner) and “White Lotus” breakout star Amy Lou Wood will host the nominations announcement. British actors will announce the full list of nominations for this year’s film awards on BAFTA’s YouTube channel and X account from 12pm UK (4am PT/7am ET), streaming live from BAFTA’s headquarters in London.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s blockbuster One Battle After Another topped the longlist for this year’s BAFTA Film Awards, breaking the record for longlist mentions with 16 nominations. Chloé Zhao’s Shakespearean tragedy “Hamnet,” starring Jesse Buckley and Paul Mescal, and Ryan Coogler’s horror hit “Sinners” followed with 14 mentions each.
Notably, this year’s BAFTA Best Film nominations will be announced following last week’s Oscar nominations. BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip said in an interview with Variety, “We’re delighted that Oscar will be the flag bearer for BAFTA.”
However, she pointed out that the BAFTA Film Awards ceremony on February 22 is still to come before the Oscar voting period ends on March 15.
“The turnover in candidates is simply a result of the schedule,” she said. “But I don’t think that in any way makes us any less important. What happened on February 22 is particularly important to everyone at the Academy.”
The BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will be held on February 22nd at London’s Royal Festival Hall and will be hosted by Traitors presenter Alan Cumming.
