The biggest night on TV is here. The 77th Emmy Awards will be held on Sunday, September 14th. The show will air downtown Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on CBS on Sunday, September 14th at 8pm ET. (The awards show is also streamed on Paramount+ for some subscribers.)
The red carpet will start at 6pm and the pre-show, hosted by Entertainment Tonight, will air live on CBS from 7pm. Like the ceremony, this can also be streamed on Paramount+.
Famous comedian Nate Bargatze will host this year’s ceremony, with a long list of presenters such as Sidney Sweeney, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Sterling K. Brown, Jenna Ortega and Mariska Hargitai on stage.
Apple TV leads “Severance” and “The Studio,” which tallys this year’s nominated shows in both drama and comedy series, respectively. Meanwhile, HBO Max led the overall network tally with 142. Thanks to shows like “The Penguin” (minimal/anthology), “The White Lotus”, “The Last of Us”, and “Hacks.” This is from the previous best of outlets in 2022, 140.
Among performers, it is “Matt Rock” star Kathy Bates who makes the history that appears on the show. Kathy Bates is 77 years old and is now the oldest woman to be nominated in the lead drama actress category.
As long as rules change, the TV Academy has kept big shifts to a minimum this year. The most important adjustments were made in the guest acting category. There, performers who have previously been nominated or won in the lead or support category will no longer be able to transition to one of the guest fields in the same role in the future.
Also, this year is a new one: a change in the manager’s race. “Eligible individuals or the same teams can now enter multiple outcomes per category if they have different program outcomes.” According to the Academy, directors could previously only submit one entry per category.
