She has experienced this before.
The shocking split between Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban comes more than 20 years after the actress went through another highly publicized divorce, including her children.
Kidman and Cruz met on the set of “Thunder Day” and got married a year later on Christmas Eve, 1990. Similarly, Kidman met Urban in 2005 and then dated in 2006 before tying the knot.
Kidman and Cruz adopted their daughter Isabella in 1992 and their son Connor in 1995. Meanwhile, Kidman shares two daughters with Urban.
In an interview with Dujour in 2012, Kidman recalls her marriage to Cruz, admitting that when she got married at the age of 22, she was “very impulsive and naive.”
“I was shaking with Tom. I would have gone to the edge of the earth for him,” she said.
The “Mission Impossible” star ultimately filed for divorce and cited the irreconciliatory difference in 2001, which was also a surprise to her, and she tried to save the marriage.
“On December 24th, the party was delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary with a group of friends. The balance in December and the party that followed was intimate. In fact, (Kidman) got pregnant on (Cruise) but lost the baby in a miscarriage,” the court paper states.
“[Kidman]protested (Cruz’s) intention to dissolve the marriage and urged him to either participate in marriage counseling with him to avoid leaving, or take other steps to address issues that may have existed in the marriage,” the document continued. “(Cruise) said his decision was final and he left the party house.”
After his divorce, Kidman experienced a massive career success and was a huge hit with the acclaimed “Moulin Rouge!” She later admitted that she had threw herself into work following a turbulent time in her personal life.
“I couldn’t handle the reality of my life,” she shared in 2015’s Women in the World Summit. “And as an actor, you have this wonderful thing that allows you to get lost in someone else’s life and become someone else for a while.”
Five years after the divorce, Kidman said she still loves cruises.
“It was a huge shock,” Kidman said in a 2006 interview with The Ladies Home Journal, looking back on their breakup. “He was huge. Still, that’s true.” To me, he was just a Tom, but for everyone else, he is huge. But he was lovely for me. And I loved him. I still love him. ”
She also mourned the “death” of their family.
“I think the divorce and the end of what your family is, in itself, is a bit of a death,” she said.
Currently there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood between the exes. Cruz sent a rare tribute to his ex-wife in May, looking back on the erotic 1999 thriller Eyes Wide Shut.
“I suggested that Nicole played the role (Alice).
Alongside the divorce 24 years ago, sources told Page 6 on Monday that Kidman had tried to save her marriage to the city as well.
“She didn’t want separation and was trying to save things,” but “at times the relationship just runs their course,” the source said.
According to TMZ, Urban is already reportedly “with another woman” and “with another woman.”
Court documents filed in Nashville on Tuesday and obtained on six pages show that the Oscar winner requested that she and Urban be “primary housing parent” for her and Urban’s two daughters.
