Cheryl Hines obliquely addressed her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s sexting scandal in her newly published memoir, Unscripted.
A 60-year-old “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alumnus said she was on vacation in Italy when her husband called her to warn her of another big news.
The “vague story” involved “a political journalist who said he had some kind of communication with a former interviewee that became personal,” but it was “never physical.” It was widely rumored that it was Kennedy, which turned out to be true.
Last year, Page Six exclusively reported that former New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi, 32, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, 71, had been having an online affair that lasted almost a year.
Sources say the two told each other they loved each other every time they spoke (over the phone) and had “incredible” sex over FaceTime.
A spokesperson for Kennedy said, “I met Olivia Nuzzi only once in my life, and it was an interview she requested that produced a hit.”
Hines wrote that the disturbing headlines “left me with a feeling of not being important…this was the end for me.”
She continued to stay in Europe, and when she returned, Kennedy was eager to talk, even though she “felt so far away from him.”
The Emmy nominee said that in the days that followed, she and Kennedy “stopped everything and dug into the truth.”
“We talked about all the hard times we’ve been through over the past few years and what they mean to each other,” and ultimately they “strengthened” their bond.
She discredited Nuzzi on a recent podcast.
“I think you always have to consider the source, right?” the actress joked. “So we’ll start there. And we’ll end with a conversation with Bobby.”
Mr. Hines married Mr. Kennedy in 2014. This will be her second marriage and his third. His second wife, Mary Richardson, died by suicide two years after he filed for divorce. She had accused him of being a “sexual deviant” during their controversial divorce proceedings.
The political scion and former heroin addict, who ran for president before dropping out, has been controversial for his anti-vaccine beliefs.
Page Six exclusively reported that Nuzzi is writing a book that includes sexual messages with Kennedy.
