Johnny Depp has completely transformed into Ebenezer Scrooge in new photos of the actor filming Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol.
Depp, 62, was photographed on the London set looking visibly wrinkled as he plays the grumpy miser in the latest adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic.
Wearing a hat that covered his ears, Depp rocked long gray sideburns and a patchy beard. His eyebrows were also fuller and matched the shade of his hair.
The actor appeared to be shivering from the cold and wore a long blue and black brocade coat, befitting the Victorian era in which the film is set.
The three-time Oscar nominee was filming scenes with co-star Andrea Riseborough, who plays the Ghost of Christmas Past.
Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, directed by Ti West, also stars Sam Claflin, Ian McKellen, Daisy Ridley and Rupert Grint.
The film is a darker, gothic horror take on Dickens’ story and is scheduled for release on November 13th.
The film marks Depp’s return to big-budget Hollywood films after winning his defamation lawsuit against ex Amber Heard in 2022.
Depp sued Heard, 39, for $50 million in February 2019, claiming he defamed her in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed about the abuse.
Ms Heard lost her defamation case and was ordered to pay Ms Depp $10 million in compensation and $350,000 in punitive damages. She won $2 million in damages on her counterclaim.
In December 2022, the two sides settled their lawsuit, with Heard agreeing to pay Depp $1 million.
The Aquaman actress, who has since moved to Spain, recently appeared as a guest on Silenced, a documentary about men who use defamation lawsuits to silence women who speak out about abuse, and made rare comments about how the highly publicized trial affected her.
“This isn’t about me. I lost the ability to speak,” she said during a confessional chat with director Serena Miles.
“I’m not here to tell my story. I don’t want to tell my story,” she added. “Actually, I don’t want to use my voice anymore. That’s the problem.”
