Hilary Duff appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast during the press tour for her new album, Luck…or Something, and confirmed long-standing rumors that she skipped the August 2003 premiere of Freaky Friday amid a rivalry with fellow Disney star Lindsay Lohan. In the early 2000s, allegations of a love triangle with Aaron Carter surfaced, and all three became targets of gossip magazines and paparazzi.
When asked if he missed the premiere of “Freaky Friday,” Duff replied, “I definitely think so.” “I was a teenager!”
Conversely, Duff said several months later that she was not at all surprised when Lohan showed up at the December 2023 premiere of Duff’s film Cheaper by the Dozen. Duff added, “I mean, it was like my childhood feud… It was like my nemesis… After all these years, who cares?”
“That’s not the point,” Duff continued. “And Lindsay came up to me at the club and said, ‘Are we okay?’” And I thought, “We’re okay.” She was like, “Let’s take a shot.” I was like, “OK.” ”
Duff said she knew she was making a fuss by attending Lohan’s Freaky Friday premiere, adding, “I don’t want to start anything else, but[Chad Michael Murray]was like, ‘You should come with me.’ And I thought, “Hmm, maybe I should do that.” I mean, what was I when I was 16? No, I was younger than that…”
At the time of the “Freaky Friday” premiere, Duff had established herself as a Disney Channel icon thanks to the success of “Lizzie McGuire.” She made her jump into movies with “The Lizzie McGuire Movie,” which was released in May 2023 before “Freaky Friday.” Lohan, on the other hand, was already a child star thanks to 1998’s The Parent Trap and the Disney TV movies Life Size and Get a Crew.
