Hilary Duff comes clean.

The actress boasted about her “talent” for cutting off friends who aren’t “right” in a podcast interview weeks before her drama with Ashley Tisdale.

While speaking with Jake Shane on the November 2025 episode of “Therapuss,” Duff recalled learning who to trust from an early age.

“I’ve always been a very good judge of people. I think it’s kind of a gift that I have really good friends. And it doesn’t take me that long to figure out if someone’s not for me,” the former Disney Channel star admitted, noting that she’s the “mom of the friend group.”

The “Lizzie McGuire” alum said, “A friendship breakup can be worse than a breakup breakup.”

As for how to cut ties with a former friend, the 38-year-old said, “You have to own up to your feelings and say, ‘I can’t be there for you in this capacity right now. I’m overwhelmed. I need space.'”

Duff said in an interview: “I’ve always had a really good appreciation for people. I think it’s kind of a gift to have really good friends and it doesn’t take long to understand someone.” Jake Shane/YouTube
“I’ve had to[cut ties with friends]several times, but I always want to keep my side of the road clear. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I would rather have a conversation about my actions.” Jake Shane/YouTube

she continued. “I’ve had to do it a few times. I always want to keep my streets clean. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I do want to talk about my actions.”

The “What Dreams Are Made Of” singer’s comments resurfaced after Tisdale accused Duff’s former mom group of “toxic” behavior.

In an essay for The Cut published on New Year’s Day, the “High School Musical” alum said he felt “not cool enough” after being banned from hangouts.

Tisdale, 40, recalled texting the group: “This is too expensive for me and I don’t want to participate anymore.”

The High School Musical star said that although she “never thought of her mothers as bad people,” she chose to leave them after “the relationship was no longer a healthy, positive one.”

The mom group also includes Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor, and although Tisdale didn’t name any of them in her essay, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Tisdale no longer follows Duff and Moore on social media.

Page Six put together a timeline and found that Tisdale was last photographed playing with the group in December 2024.

Tisdale allegedly texted the group, and Tisdale, 40, remembers texting the group, “This is too high school for me and I don’t want to be a part of it anymore.” Hilary Duff/Instagram

All the mothers in the group remained silent about the viral essay, but her husband spoke out.

Duff’s partner Matthew Koma trolled Tisdale by sharing a photo meant to mock the article’s promotion.

Above a portrait of a pensive Koma was a caption that read: “Group of mothers tells everything through the eyes of fathers: When you’re the most self-centered tone-deaf person on the planet, other mothers tend to shift their focus to their actual infants.”

“Matthew gave her what she wanted,” a source familiar with the feud told Page Six on Wednesday, claiming Tisdale was “intolerable.”

The source further said that his breakup with his friend had been “a long time in the making.”

Meanwhile, Tisdale’s husband Christopher French shared his own cryptic message on social media.

“It’s your choice to engage or not,” his Instagram Story repost read.
