Hilaria Baldwin says her “dancing with the stars” journey was “healthy” for her and her family.
“I was listening when I was a young mom and I was asking about ‘my time’ and I thought I didn’t deserve it,” the mother of seven told Page 6 in the Ballroom on Tuesday night.
“I think there’s a lot of guilt as a mother who takes a moment for herself. Other mothers who have older and more experienced children say, “Yeah, you need ‘my time’ completely to be a better mom.” And this is one of the first things I’ve ever done.
Hilaria shares seven children with her husband Alec Baldwin: Carmen, 12, Raphael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 5, Maria, 5, Ilaria, 3.
The yoga instructor said they can be with her at every stage of the road as the production competes for the coveted Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy, as it helped the production move the whole family to Los Angeles.
“‘Dancing with the Stars’ is a great family, everyone was very supportive and they made it possible,” she gushed. “So, every day, my kids, who have really struggled over the past few years, are here and they watch their mothers go to work with happiness.”
Hilaria’s family has been front and center in recent years, making headlines from her accent to the fatal shooting that took place on the set of Alec’s “Rust” movie. She said doing a show like “DWTS” is “make your dreams come true.”
“It’s not just healing for me, but I think it’s healing for my children too,” she shared. “Because kids want to see their moms happy.”
During “One Hit Wonders Night” on Tuesday, Baldwin and her professional partner, Greb Savchenko, performed tango on Hadaway’s “What Is Love.” They received a total score of 21/30 from judges Carrie Anne Inaba, Derek Huff and Bruno Toniori.
Following the show, Savchenko told Page Six that there was pressure to win the Season 34 Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy. Not only for Hilaria, but for Alec too!
“When we were in New York, I showed him my first rehearsal video. He saw Chacha, he paused a bit,” recalled Savenko. “He looked at me and said, ‘If you can’t win, I’m blaming you.’ ”
Hilaria added, “For Gleb’s interests, please vote for us, because it is necessary for his safety!”
For now, Hilaria and Sabenko are focusing on rehearsals for the third week of the competition. This is the first “Tictok Night” on the show airing next Tuesday.
“We dance samba to one of the hit (Tictok) songs,” Sabenko revealed. “I’m very excited about it. It’s going to be a real samba with a bit of tiktok flavor.”
“Dancing with the Stars” will return on ABC and Disney+ at 8pm ET/PT next Tuesday, with a new episode airing on Hulu the following day.
