Henry Cavill was injured while preparing for the Amazon MGM remake of “The Highlander.”
Cavill’s co-stars include Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Jimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela and Max Chan. Stahelski (the “John Wick” franchise) is directed from the scriptwriter of Michael Finch. (Ryan J. Condal and Kerry Williamson have worked on previous drafts of the film.)
Starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, the 1986 cult classic documentes the lives of immortal warriors, ranging from the Scottish highlands of the 16th century to the concrete jungle of Manhattan in the 80s. Although initially a box office failure, the film produced a dedicated fandom via home video, and in 1991 Lambert and Connery returned to the sequel. The franchise continued through sequels, television series and spin-off novels.
The new Flemeki first incubated incubation at Summit Entertainment in 2009, at least in Hollywood years. Stahelski got into production in 2016 and in 2021 Cavill signed on to play the role of Lambert. The United artist then acquired the project from Lionsgate earlier this year under the new Chief Scott Starbar. Stuber and Moritz are producing alongside Nick Nesbitt, Josh Davis, Louise Rosner, and Stahelski production banners and 87Eleven Entertainment.
Cavill’s Slate is still busy as ever, with the mystery sequel “Enola Holmes 3,” another ’80s adaptation for Netflix, Voltron,” Amazon MGM’s “Voltron,” and Lionsgate’s Action Striller “In Gray.”
