‘Rivals’ star Hudson Williams has shared the inside scoop on a workout regimen that helps him grow muscle and ‘maintain’ his butt.
“I want to keep this butt and get a bigger butt,” the Canadian actor, who plays Shane Hollander on the Crave/HBO Max series, told Men’s Health in an interview published Wednesday.
He explained that he goes to the gym about five times a week, or at least three days a week when he’s traveling, for a full-body workout.
Each session is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour long and consists of 3 sets, with each exercise repeated up to 10 times.
For his legs, William, 24, prioritizes Bulgarian split squats before moving on to a more intense upper body workout.
He incorporates lying dumbbell curls, dumbbell chest flies, seated single-arm cable rows, overhead tricep extensions, and cable lateral raises.
To strengthen his core, Williams slams the dragon flag onto the floor.
“Heated Rivals” has been renewed for a second season, so Williams plans to spend more time in the gym before filming begins in the summer.
“I want to get bigger, juicier, thicker. I want to get big butt shoulders,” he said. “I want to gain 10 pounds of muscle.”
Williams said he was inspired by his co-star Connor Story, who plays his on-screen lover Ilya Rozanov, and said: “I want to be as big as I was in season one.”
“I think that guy is going to take a bunch of protein and ascend to heaven and come out looking like Olympia, Mr. Olympia,” he said.
Prior to filming Season 1 of the hockey series, Williams recalled that creator Jacob Tierney had said that his physique should look like he was eating pasta, since the typical hockey player “looks like he’s been drinking beer” and is “burly.”
However, he chose not to take Tierney’s advice after seeing his co-stars, including 25-year-old Storey, “looked like underwear models.”
“I don’t mind talking about my butt, but poor Conor Storey, who has the fattest butt of any man I’ve ever seen, I’m sure would like to stop talking about his beautiful cheeks,” he said of his co-star.
“Heated Rivals” is based on a series of novels written by Rachel Reid and follows two rival hockey stars who develop feelings for each other.
