Georgina Chapman, who was married to convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein, is facing foreclosure on her $2.5 million New York City home.
According to legal documents obtained by Page Six, the fashion designer was issued a foreclosure notice on October 15 that states, “You are at risk of losing your home.”
“If you fail to respond to this summons and charge by filing a copy of your answer with the attorney for the mortgage company that brought this foreclosure proceeding against you and filing your answer with the court, a default judgment will be entered and you may lose your home,” the notice further reads.
In the complaint, also obtained by Page Six, Georgina, who mortgaged the property with her brother Edward Chapman, is accused of owing $2.5 million from Cross Country Mortgage.
She then “executed a note to secure that amount” on a loan requiring monthly payments of $9,114.58 from March 2022 to February 2052.
However, the complaint alleges that in November 2024, the brothers “became delinquent on their mortgage” and “failed to comply with the terms of their mortgage by failing to pay any portion of principal, interest or taxes, assessments, water bills, insurance premiums, escrow and/or other fees.”
In addition to the $2.5 million owed to the mortgage company, Georgina and Edward must also pay “late fees and prepayments” and “other unpaid charges.”
Lawyers for the mortgage company asked the court to order Georgina and her brother to “pay the shortfall” if the foreclosure sale does not cover the outstanding balance.
Page Six reached out to Georgina’s representatives for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
